Trail Description

Surrounding the beautiful Brodhead Creek, the multi-municipal trail system connects public parks, schools, and other destinations within the Broadhead, McMichael, and Pocono Creeks Greenway. Constructed in the aftermath of deadly floods in the 1950s, the levee separating the residents of Stroudsburg and East Stroudsburg boroughs from the torrential tendencies of the Brodhead Creek now fosters a more unifying function—the Levee Loop Trail. The Levee Loop Trail extends approximately 4.5 miles on both sides of the Brodhead Creek from The Route 209 Veterans Memorial Bridge in the south to the Stokes Avenue Bridge in the north. Trailheads with parking areas are located at Dansbury Park, off Day Street; along Stokes Mill Road; and off Roosevelt Street. Along the multi-municipal walking and biking trail, one can easily connect with 14 parks, 3 playgrounds, 2 skate parks, 12 athletic fields, 2 swimming pools, 2 fishing ponds, 1 disc golf course, 1 9-hole golf course, 9 schools, a University, a Community Center, and 2 historic downtown districts. A popular Trail Run on the scenic loop is held every first Saturday in June. Trailheads with parking areas are located at Dansbury Park, off Day Street; along Stokes Mill Road; and off Roosevelt Street.
