Rock Furnace Trail

The Rock Furnace Trail starts at the trailhead at Brownstown Road with parking for 32 vehicles. The trail follows the beautiful Roaring Run Creek as it cascades 1 1/2 miles to the confluence with the Kiski River at the covered bridge along Roaring Run Trail. A bikeable 72-foot suspension bridge that crosses Roaring Run allows for year-round use of the trail. ​ The remnants of the Biddle Iron Furnace (also known as the "Rock Furnace") can be found directly across the trail from the giant "Camel Rock". This furnace operated in the canal era as well, from 1825 to 1850.
